Fields for 1/2 Day Hunts

The “Ridge” field is your traditional upland game bird hunting field.  Most of this 160 acre field is a mixture of different varieties of native grasses and alfalfa. There is also some seasonal row crops; corn, wheat and beans on the perimeter of the hunting area.  You’ll find hunting birds in this heavy cover tough especially early season, but if you like difficult hunts this is for you.  Because of the rugged terrain and tall cover we recommend boots with good ankle support and an orange cap.

The “Creek” is a 154 acre parcel and contains a large wetland and has Indian Mill Creek running through the center of it.  This field has more hunt-able acres and consists of prairie grass, timothy grass, switch grass, other native grasses and alfalfa.  The Creek bed has excellent mixture of cattails and thickets along with heavy grass.  There are also two swales and one pond and a small abandoned apple orchard. You’ll find the overall terrain of the “Creek” less rugged to walk than the “Ridge”.  Good waterproof boots are needed for this area, especially if you like hunting along the creek bed.

European Shoot

European Hunts are all day hunts with a tower shoot in the morning followed up with a traditional field hunt after lunch.  This is a great day of fun and value for groups of 6 to 20 people.  Pheasants are released from a tower with shooting stations surrounding it after all the birds are released lunched is then served in the clubhouse and after which a traditional walk up hunt is held for the birds that got away.  The tower shoot is more challenging and fun than people think.  For more information about a Euro Hunt please click on it's tab above.
